At a dog shelter, a couple from Arizona once came upon an overweight stray beagle. He was in desperate need of help. A kind pair immediately recognized the unusualness of an extremely chubby beagle when they came across him. They decided to adopt Wolfgang, a sickly plum beagle puppy since he seemed like a friendly person.
They had to endure the agony of seeing a dog that was much larger than usual. Although they were aware of the dog’s discomfort, they had never witnessed a dog acting so at ease in a similar circumstance. The beagle was discovered to be homeless at the shelter, but Erin had a hunch he was overweight for a reason. The reason for this was that when they found Wolfgang in Phoenix in July, he could hardly move more than a few feet.
Even though these dogs typically only weigh 25 to 30 pounds, the adoptive family weighed the dog and found it to be 90 pounds. On the other hand, the happy dog displayed no signs of fear.
Instead, he went wild after every fall. He was obese, yet he was always up for a walk. Erin and Chad took her on her first stroll to the neighbors’ house. The beagle was having trouble moving around. He was a loyal dog who never gave up trying to be like other dogs. He often smiled and gave it his all. Under the guidance of a veterinarian, Erin started preparing food for him with all the necessary instructions.
The dog was unable to walk for extended stretches without stopping. The dog, however, became more agile as weight was taken off of him. The foster parents were ecstatic to see how far their foster child had come. The Beagle persevered in his fight against weight loss until he finally attained a healthy weight. The dog community was ecstatic for him. Walking and playing sports were two of Wolfgang’s favorite activities. After that, the two continued to walk a few miles five or six times per week. The two viewed canine obesity as a serious problem.
